Another Historic Farm Lost [...]

This is a plein air painting of an old farmhouse painted in Francis, Utah last fall. I was out painting with my friend, David Dean. The painting is 7x12" with a Rett Ashby frame. Thank you Springville Museum of Art! The house, the scene, reminded me of my grandmother's house and all the great memories I have of my time visiting with my grandparents. I'll try to get a better photo of this plein air painting of the old farmhouse.  I took the photo with my cell and had to crop a lot of the painting off to straighten my photo.  My painting won a Certificate of Merit in the Spring City, Utah plein air competition the week preceding Labor Day 2015.  The judge was Kathryn Stats!! I'm very pleased.  And thank you to the couple who purchased my painting !!   [...]

This is my little painting I did this morning, 7/3/15, in Midway, UT. This little farm house with the red roof has been one of my favorite scenes of Midway for years.  The photo turned out way too yellow from the lighting and the trees are darker but this is the best pic I have at the moment.  It's nice to win something once in awhile. Even better, I had a great time painting with good friends.     Sold!  Thank you to the wonderful family who bought my painting!!  It was great to meet you.   [...]

This is another of my plein air entries in the Spring City Plein Air competition this week, the end of August 2013.  I had a wonderful time painting in this little historic town in central Utah.  The town has lots of sheep, cows, horses, chickens and old houses, amazing landscapes and views, and wonderful artists.  My kind of place! This painting just won 1st Place in the 2013 Midway Plein Air in Paradise Midway Paint Out.  And, it won the 1st Place Purchase Award also!!     [...]

I'm painting a series of this Park City, Utah historical dairy barn and local landmark.  This is the 3rd painting in my series and am working on 4 more at least.  I'm really enjoying painting snowy winter scenes of this barn. SOLD [...]

This is also a commissioned painting of a couple of historical barns.  They no longer exist really.  The brown barn fell down a few years ago and all that is left is a pile of old boards.  The red barn is still standing but is really leaning and won't last long.  The title of the painting is symbolic and literal.  I wish someone would have saved these barns because they have so much character and added a lot to the beauty of Woodenshoe Lane!  18x36" oil.   See my other new paintings here:  [...]

This is a few of a series of sheep paintings.  I love it when they have their full coats on.  This pasture of sheep shows the coming of winter with a light snow in the background.  Sheep are just delight to me and I so enjoy painting them, though I have heard that ranchers do not share my fondness.  14x19" oil.   See my other new paintings here:  [...]

$1275 available at the show - Wasatch Plein Air Paradise This is a plein air painting I finished today for the Midway Plein Air Paradise Competion in Midway, UT. I have painted this location before and I'm pleased with the out come. I only got one entry in this year because I'm busy with studio paintings. My gallery in Park City, Robert Kelly Gallery, just sold most of my work. So I'm busy building inventory again - a nice problem to have. [...]

SOLD I finished the painting on Saturday-fresh off the easel and it sold that day.  Thank you!!! This is the second time I have painted this house and I'm sure there will be more paintings of it.  Apparently old Mrs. Robertson lived there for years on the old family homestead.  The house is in Marion, UT and it's abandoned.  It may be torn down soon, so I'm trying to get a few paintings done before it goes.  I just love the feel of this place.   See my other new paintings here:  [...]
